I Mae this salt the old fashioned way! There are no dyes or ashes in this salt. I don’t do it the short cut way. This is a natural and true black! A lot of people do it the short cut way and just add ashes but that was developed because not many people have cast iron anymore, much less have the strength to scorch anything.
